The Land of Stories- Text to Self

I am reading the book The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns by Chris Colfer. This story is about two twins who are brother and sister who thought they were ordinary to the rest of the world. What they didn't know they are attached to another world through a portal of their old fairy tale book they were given by their grandmother when they were toddlers. The portal can take them to a land of stories full of kingdoms, forests, and characters from your classic fairy tale treasury.  This is the second book in the series and the second time they've gone back to this world after returning home the first time. An evil enchantress has made multiple attempts to take over the entire fairy tale world and is succeeding. When the two twins, Alex and Conner hear word of this, their first instinct is to go back through their portal and reunite with their old friends they had met in their previous journey.
The character in this book reminds me of myself because the girl in the book and one of the main characters, Alex, who is one of the twins is struggling to keep her grades up at the beginning of the book. She was in school and was placed in a gifted program, so to make her mom and brother proud, she did everything in her power to keep up with her work even though she was struggling. Also, knowing that she went on this adventure into this world with her brother, it is common for siblings to get on each others nerves and that is just what Alex and Conner do to each other. I can relate to my siblings like that, too.
I love the way the author decided to take all these fairy tale characters and put them into one book and make it make sense and have you on the edge of your seat the entire time because it is so action pact. I think the settings are important because they all have their own personalities towards Alex and Conner's adventure. All these settings are thoroughly described and it is as if you are there yourself. I like the way the author made his book so creative, but yet still kept it as a classic and didn't change the characters too much.
