                                                     Text to Text: Divergent

     I am reading the book divergent by Veronica Roth. This book is about a wold divided into 5 different factions, Abnegation (the selflessness), Erudite (the intelligent), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Candor (the honest). When the day comes, 16 year old Beatrice has to take a test called "the aptitude test", she learns that her results were "inconclusive" which means she is Divergent. To all the factions divergent is dangerous. When the day of the choosing ceremony comes Tris chooses Dauntless. There she learns that she can manipulate the simulations, which is dangerous because they might find out her secret. Four, who is also divergent helps Tris learn to get through the simulations without manipulating them. Later, they find out that the Dauntless and Erudite are planning to go to war. After their last simulation, they inject every member with a serum to control them, but the serum does not work on Four and Tris because they are divergent. They use the serum to control them to kill all the members of Abnegation.
     The book "The Hunger Games" reminds me of divergent because just like in Divergent, the people are separated into different groups. This book also reminds me of Divergent because of all the adventure and fighting for their lives just like in divergent. Also, Katniss and Tris both have a secret to keep.
     If I where Tris I would also choose Dauntless. I like how the author made the book easy but added some challenge to it. I think that the setting in the book is important because it helps me  imagine what it would be like in her position and what it would be like there.

                                                          Text to World Connection      Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book, by J.K. Rowling, that is about a boy named Harry who finds out he is a wizard after 10 years of his life. Then it doesn't help that he has to live with his muggle relatives after his parent are killed by an evil wizard. Though,things do get better once he arrives at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding. While he is there, he meets Ron and Hermione, who become his best friends throughout the year. Plus he learns that he was a hero to the whole wizarding world because this evil wizard that killed his parent could not kill Harry.       The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a book about a girl who has unexpected change in he sail home to america for the summer and witness some life changing things. She has to choose who to trust and makes the wrong choice. She was indirectly responsible for two murders, and takes the place of the victims because, the captain after committing the murder made the crew work basically double.      This happens in the real world but usually in much smaller scale. Usually people get fired or die, and people have to take there place in the business. It can also be someone is better and is promoted into someone else's seat. Also people witness murders just like her a lot depending on were you live.      There are many similarities however this was the biggest. Others may include boats, alliances, sailors, and double agents. Murder ocurrs many times in this book and has the most to talk about.
