Text to Text - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Text to Text- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling, is about this boy named Harry and he goes to a wizarding school after he learns that his parents were wizards and that his parents were not killed in a car accident, but by an evil wizard. He makes new friends named Ron and Hermione. Plus he gets sorted into the house of Gryfindor with his new friends. He learns all of the rules and eats as much as he could during the feast that they had to celebrate the newcomers. Then he goes to his house common room to learn everything about the house and then they fall asleep almost instantly. The next day, Harry learns about all of his teachers and about what type of magic they will be learning throughout the year.
The scene that reminds me of something in another book is when Harry and Ron are getting to their classes and they are learning the expectations. This scene reminds me of a scene in the book Divergent when Tris learns what they practice and who they will be practicing in the faction. Plus it reminds me of this scene because the new people have to go through initiation to become a member of the faction and after the initiation was over, all of the people who made it into the faction, had a celebration. Harry Potter is like the character Tris in the book Divergent, by Veronica Roth, because they both do not know what their future is and both of their pasts were lies. These characters are very similar, but very different at the same time.
I think that the setting is important because it is the same place where she wrote the book and she grew up in the area that she wrote about. Plus she did an amazing job with all of the detail because it is just enough to know what is going on in the book, but it does not have too much detail to where you do not know what is going on. Another thing that I like about the book is that it is not realistic , but realistic at the same time. The book is not realistic because it contains magic and supernatural creatures. Plus it contains supernatural concepts as well. The book is realistic because it talks about having friends and about how Harry got bullied. Plus it talks about how Harry's parents were killed and how he had to do chores and go live with his torturous relatives. This is an amazing book for young teens because they can relate to some of the situations and they can get deep into the story with the characters.
