Text to Text Ms Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
The book I'm reading is Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children and it is about a sixteen year old Jacob Portman who doesn't know how peculiar he his. He grew up listening to his grandfather tell him stories of living on an island in a children's home where each child had a supernatural ability of some sort. As he got older he stopped believing his grandfathers stories, but still has a close relationship with him who seemed to get crazier and worried each day as he said the monsters were lurking in the woods waiting to kill him. Jacob didn't believe him and thought he forgot to take his medicine. One day Grandpa Portman is killed by a mysterious creature in the woods. Jacob sets out on a mission to uncover the meaning behind his grandfathers last words and learn at last about his grandfathers past.
Jacob Portman reminds me of scientists because Jacob is trying to find out what is grandfathers past is like and scientists are still studying weird and strange objects and trying to see if that will give them clues to what the past was like. Jacob reminds me of me because I'm trying to find out about who my ancestors were and what they were like and where they lived, what the working, housing conditions were like. Jacob reminds me of a similar situation in my live because his grandfather died of a mystery and no one knows how and that reminds me of similar situation in my life because my uncle died not to long ago and he died of mystery and nobody found out how or why. Jacob reminds me of Tris from Divergent because all his life Jacob was told he was strange and peculiar but he just doesn't know it and Tris doesn't know what category she feels would be best for her. Lastly Jacob reminds me of Auggie from Wonder because he doesn't know where he fits in and he is so different from the rest.
The message of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is to trust people no matter what they look like. I really like the idea that Jacob wants to find out about his grandfathers past and I like the idea that he cares so much about his grandfather the way no one else does. I felt sad when his grandfather died and no one would believe Jacob when he told everyone he knew how he died but everyone thought he was insane, and thought he needed therapist. I was very surprised how well Jacob handled everything, and how calm he was when everyone thought he was in insane. I can't believe I haven't read more of Ransom Riggs books considering how amazing they are. You should definitely read his books.
