Text to Text-Divergent

                                      Text to Text

So, the adventures continue for Tris in the first book of the series, Divergent. During initiation, Tris begins to fall in love with another divergent named Tobias, who also transferred from Abnegation. Tobias, who is also called Four, helps Tris learn how to survive initiation while still keeping their divergence a secret. After barely making it through all the simulations and, all the Dauntless leaders watching and ranking her, Tris is ranked first at the end of initiation! Good, right?
Well not exactly, especially when the leaders inject all the members with a serum that will control them to do something, but what? The next day, Tris wakes up to see that everyone is doing the same thing, at the same exact time. She tries to copy them the best she can, but can't help but find Four, who is also awake since the serum didn't work on divergents'. Then they both realize, the Erudite and Dauntless have teamed up to attack, or worse, kill any or all members of Abnegation. When Jeanine, the leader from Erudite knows about the two of them, she takes Tobias away to test a new serum that will control divergents better. While taking Tris away for her "execution", her mom, who is also a divergent, rescues her! But, while trying to distract the brainwashed sleepwalkers of Dauntless, she ends up getting shot and dying. Although Tris just wanted to sit and cry forever, she got up and moved onto find the control room with Caleb, her brother, her dad, and Marcus, an Abnegation leader and, Tobias's father. After leaving her father, who tried to protect her, she finds Four who is being controlled like the rest of them. They end up fighting until Tris holds a gun to her head, and Four wakes up. Together, they steal the data and destroy the simulation, but unfortunately they aren't safe even though the Dauntless soldiers have stopped, the divergent hunters will not quit look for them until they are dead!
This book reminds me of "The Girl Who Owned a City", because like Tris, the main character, Lisa, has to take charge and protect who Huey love. In both books they face a serious problem that they will have to over come. Lisa, takes charge and protects her friends and family that survived the virus. Tris, had to protect not only herself but a whole faction from a world of chaos. Both books are extremely good and well written. They also have the same theme, never doubt yourself because you are braver than you think.
Now that I have finished Divergent, I will now move onto the next book in the series, Insurgent. I love the way the author of this book can really go into detail about how the characters feel. I began to notice, that at the very end of the book it leaves you asking questions about wheat will happen or if they will be safe. This is probably my all time favorite book because even though it's a totally opposite example of our world, the characters face some of the same problems we face today.
