Out of My Mind

Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper is a story about a little girl named Melody. Melody is almost eleven and has never spoken a word in her life as well as as never walked on her own due to her disability. Melody remembers every detail of everything and everyone and can never forget anything. She is able to go to school and is a brilliant child even though no body will ever know. Her parents have done everything they can but still, nothing. She started going to inclusion classes which help her interact with what she calls regular kids and now has a nice new friend named Rose.
Melody reminds me of somebody I know because they both can't walk or talk and it is hard for both of them to get somebody to understand them. Although th person I know has communication devise. This character reminds me of me due to the fact that we both have hard times expressing what we want and get frustrated or annoyed when the other person us confused. This reminds me of a similar situation in my own life. It happened when I was around the age of nine and I was only in the third grade. I went to work with my mom and she teaches special education so she has a kid or two like Melody and when they got out of hand they exploded  with rage of mixed emotions.
I beleive that what this story is trying to teach us is that even if you go throgh problems big a nd small in life, you what to prsevere and never give up. If lody were to have givin up, she would not have gone to school or meet any new friends like Rose. I liked the part where Melody was givin the chance to meet new people in her inclusion classes and that her new friend Rose stood up for her and helps her through her opsticals. Out of My MInd is a great book to read due to the content I gives.
