Text to World: Divergent
I am reading the book divergent by Veronica Roth. This book is about a wold divided into 5 different factions, Abnegation (the selflessness), Erudite (the intelligent), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Candor (the honest). When the day comes, 16 year old Beatrice has to take a test called "the aptitude test", she learns that her results were "inconclusive" which means she is Divergent. To all the factions divergent is dangerous. When the day of the choosing ceremony comes Tris chooses Dauntless. There she learns that she can manipulate the simulations, which is dangerous because they might find out her secret. Four, who is also divergent helps Tris learn to get through the simulations without manipulating them. Later, they find out that the Dauntless and Erudite are planning to go to war. After their last simulation, they inject every member with a serum to control them, but the serum does not work on Four and Tris because they are divergent. They use the serum to control them to kill all the members of Abnegation.
I Divergent Caleb and Tris have to make a huge decision that will determine the rest of their life. Just like in the real world people have to make very hard decisions in their lives. Like when you pick what college you want to go to or what job you want. Maybe even what you want to do when you get older. Or how in this book there are people called the faction less which are the people who have no home, just like we have the homeless, .In the book Divergent Tris and the other initiates have to learn how to fight, just like how people in the military have to train for fights, Battles, and wars.
When I first started to read the book I wondered what divergent even meant, but now I do. It means to be more than one faction which is dangerous. I think the character I dislike the most is Peter because he is a cowered. Peter was a selfish and foolish person. To me this book teaches me to be brave and stand up for yourself and what you believe in. I noticed when ever one of Tris's friend are in trouble she always wants to help them a make sure they are okay.
