My book that I'm reading is called Princess Academy written by Shannon Hale. This story is about a twelve year old girl named Miri who is taken to a princess academy along with other girls ages twelve to seventeen in her village. In the academy, the girls will learn to become a princess. After a year, one girl will be chosen to be crowned princess and marry the prince. The girls don't look enjoy it at first, but after a while, they decide to just try their best. Miri studies every night to prove the girls that are mad at her wrong. Miri decides to except the challenges of learning to be princess. When Gerti assumes that Miri was stuck in the closet, she reminds Tutor Olana (the mean lady prepping the girls to be princesses) and almost gets herself into trouble. Soon, after Miri is freed from the closet, she gets closer to Gerti.     When Miri and the girls hike up to the princess academy, I think of when the group of teens in Downriver ...

Text to Text - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Text to Text- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone      Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling , is about this boy named Harry and he goes to a wizarding school after he learns that his parents were wizards and that his parents were not killed in a car accident, but by an evil wizard. He makes new friends named Ron and Hermione. Plus he gets sorted into the house of Gryfindor with his new friends. He learns all of the rules and eats as much as he could during the feast that they had to celebrate the newcomers. Then he goes to his house common room to learn everything about the house and then they fall asleep almost instantly. The next day, Harry learns about all of his teachers and about what type of magic they will be learning throughout the year.      The scene that reminds me of some...

Daughter of Dusk Text to Text

I can connect Daughter of Dusk and Wereworld because of the characters and more. Kyra (Daughter of Dusk) and Drew (Wereworld) are both seen as threats, and are able to become a 'were' creature. Kyra is an orphan and was pretty poor as a child, while Drew was taken in by a farm family and didn't find out his real family until later in the book like Kyra. Both of these characters sustain a injury at some point Drew more than Kyra. Another thing is that they both fall in love with someone of higher status and through many struggles end up with that person. The setting of the books are sort of different but the times are similar and  medieval like.

Text to World

Text to World     The book Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper, is about a middle school girl named Melody. Melody has cerebral palsy which doesn't allow her to do may things. She is very kind and smart and now has made the Kidz Quiz team. Rven though she has cerebral palsy , she doesn't allow that to keep her from being a normal child.      The parts of the body are affected by cerebral palsy, the level of serveity and combinations of symptoms can differ from each person.  An other person may have little or no control over their movements or speech and require 24 hour assistance which is what my character Melody needs. Melody is affected by this in ways that she can't keep corrct or cmfy posture, she can't move and she can't eat without assistance. This book connects to real life because there are many people that have this disability and are affected by it every day.      This story teaches me that you shouldn't judge kids by the outsi...

Text to World- Warriors A Dangerous Path

In Warriors- A Dangerous Path  the cat named Fireheart has to keep the clan safe as the traitor Tigerclaw, which is now Tigerstar, has gained leadership of Shadowclan, an enemy clan. Although he does not believe the Shadowclan will attack, Bluestar, the clans leader, orders him to stand guard, and to send off daily search parties through the forest. Fireheart doesn't agree with his leader and thinks that Tigerstar is satisfied, and that he got what he wanted. However he stands in his place and follows orders,Tigerclaw soon starts what appears to Fireheart as  an alliance with Riverclan, which could have them pinned between two enemy clans.  and the clan has a new problem now. Blood thirsty dogs, that want to hunt.      The fact of the dogs escaping the Twoleg's nest (Human house), reminds me of how police send their dogs into dark or puzzling places, to sniff out or hunt down a victim. The problem is also similar to what governments or...

Text to World Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

The book that I'm reading is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. It is about a sixteen year old boy named Jacob Portman who doesn't know just how peculiar he is. Jacob is exploring a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the beat down, old and abandoned home of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores the peeling hallways and the decaying bedrooms, he sees now that it has become clear that the children his grandfather told him in his stories that the children were more than just peculiar, they may have been dangerous.       My book connects to the real world because the peculiar kids aren't accepted by everyone and everyone thinks that they are weird or creepy but really they are just kids who are different and different isn't always a bad thing. Kids from all around the world just want to fit in and especially at school, kids just want to be accepted for who they are and don't want to...
